The food menu an important part of your wedding plans as they can either add class to the arrangements or ruin the entire celebration. To begin with, you need to ensure the wedding budget, and accordingly select the options, whether you want a single meal, four course meal, cocktails or appetizers. Before planning for the wedding reception menu, you should also see that your guests are satisfied with the menu at the other wedding ceremonies as well.
The time of the wedding reception as well as the season is an important factor to consider while creating the menu; whether it has to be a summer meal or a winter dinner. The food menu can also be decided according to the theme or season of the wedding, for instance you can have apple-maple glazed chicken and a pumpkin cheesecake for dessert when it’s a wedding in falls. You can have lemon grilled salmon with fresh vegetables if it is a summer wedding. One can even ask the caterer to add food from your families’ heritage that will add more personal touch to the ceremony, especially if your culture is different. You can also check the sample and find out what’s missing so that on the final day, everything is perfect. Take care that the delicacies in both cases vegetarian or non vegetarian are equally good; bland vegetables heaped unattractively on a plate are a bad option. Also, ensure that the decorating and serving style of the food is impressive. Finally the desserts should also include variety and leave your guests praising it.
Moreover, you should consider your wedding budget as well, before finalizing the menu; if you have a tight budget, stick to a small menu and make it interesting, instead of going for a larger menu while compromising with the taste. Few dishes if tasty and delicious can also please the appetite of your guests. If you have a very small budget, cocktail reception, afternoon tea, or dessert reception can also be considered, instead of a filet mignon. You should also speak to your caterer about any of their special delicacies they are famous for, and their recommendations, depending on your budget. Most importantly, incorporate variety in the food menu; select both stationery and passed hors d’oeuvres including both hot and cold ones.
Finally, pen down the proposed menu to see if anything is missing or out of place, before finalizing it. You can also take opinion of your family or friends for suggestions.
